Boston Children’s Hospital is dedicated to improving and advancing the health and well-being of children around the world through its life-changing work in clinical care, biomedical research, medical education and community engagement.  Boston Children's Hospital has a long history of providing expert multi-disciplinary care  and treatment for bone marrow failure conditions.  Shwachman Diamond syndrome was first described here.

The Bone Marrow Failure and MDS Clinic is located at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. Dana Farber is a world leader in cancer treatment and research. We provide continuity of care and treatments, including bone marrow transplant, for children and adults with SDS and other bone marrow failure conditions.

The Shimamura Lab at Boston Children's Hospital studies bone marrow failure, myelodysplastic syndromes, and genetic cancer predisposition with the goal of improving diagnosis, and developing better treatments. Investigations span basic scientific mechanisms and clinical research.
